Russia successfully puts 34 OneWeb satellites into orbit

MOSCOW, Mar 23 (PRIME) -- All 34 satellites of British company OneWeb have been put into orbit by Russia’s Souyz-2.16 rocket launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome, the company said on its Twitter page on March 22.

“Our satellites separated from the rocket in nine batches, as planned. We’ve confirmed signal receipt from all 34 satellites. We’re grateful for another successful mission,” the statement read.

Previously, French company Arianespace said that at least eight launches with OneWeb’s satellite would be done at Baikonur in 2020, and two launches should be done from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou.

OneWeb is building the world’s largest and highest throughput satellite system to connect everyone, everywhere – by land, air, sea to bridge digital divide once and for all.
